Zusammenfassung

Wie die gesamten Internetprotokolle wurde auch das SIP von der IETF entworfen, anfänglich in der IETF-Arbeitsgruppe MMUSIC-WG (Multiparty Multimedia Session Control) erarbeitet und seit 1999 unter Federführung der SIP-WG gestellt. Das SEP wird nun als IETF Standard (Internet Engineering Task Force) unter der Bezeichnung RFC 3261 geführt [36].
