“The starting point of discussion must still be the much-abused neoclassical theory. No really cohesive alternative which aspires to the same level of completeness exists.”62

The firm is taken as given; no attention is paid to how it came into existence, the nature of its internal organization, or whether anything would change if two firms merged and called themselves a single firm.”

North, D.C.: (1994). Economic performance through time, in: American Economic Review, Vol. 84, No. 3, S. 359–368, insbs. S. 362: “The speed of economic change is a function of the rate of learning, but the direction ofthat change is a function of the expected payoffs to acquiring different kinds of knowledge. The mental models that the players develop shape perceptions about the payoffs.”

Hamel, G.; Prahalad, C.K.: (1995). Strategic intent, in: Mintzberg, H.; Quinn, J.B.; Ghoshal, S. (eds.): (1995). The strategy process, Hertfordshire, S. 34–40.

ebd. Heute würde man dies wohl ’Lernkuveneffekte’ nennen.

(Vgl. hierzu: Hoffmann, F.: (1974). Entwicklung der Organisationsforschung, Wiesbaden). Die erste Untersuchung zum Zusammenhang zwischen Diversifikation und Erfolg der Unternehmung unternahm dann: Rumelt, R.P.: (1974). Strategy, structure, and economic performance, Cambridge.

Andersen, E.: (1985). The salesperson as outside agent or employee: A transaction cost analysis, in: Marketing Science, Vol. 4, S. 234–253.

This is the view proposed by Jensen and Meckling (1976). But if firms are a mirage, it is difficult to explain the enormous resources that firms expend merging and breaking up. Moreover, the question still remains: what forces determine the size of the firm?”

Da das Modell in der gegenwärtigen Form “...no limit to the size of a firm.”
