Die Atmosphäre der Erde gehört ebenso wie die Hydrosphäre, die Litho- und Pedosphäre sowie die Biosphäre unter der Bedingung der ständigen solaren Energiezufuhr zu den existentiellen Rahmenbedingungen für die Umwelt des Menschen (s. auch Fritsch 1991, Haber 1993, Bossel 1994).
