Abstract
The Berlin-based German Central Institute for Social Issues/DZI is a private charitable non-commercial trust that was founded in 1893 as the “Archive of Welfare Work” by Jeanette Schwerin. In the 20th century the managers have been Dr. Albert Lévy, Siddy Wronsky and Dr. Sofie Quast. Nowadays the DZI maintains a reference library for the documentation and collection of information for its advisory services. These concern practical internships, training and courses in continued education, as well as scientific research. The areas covered in this library include social work, social pedagogy, welfare work, and their scientific principles.
