Zusammenfassung

Gibt es eine Zukunft für die Professionen im System der modernen Gesellschaft? Eine Voraussetzung, die der folgende Beitrag macht, ist, daß die Kontinuität der Form „Profession“ in der modernen Gesellschaft alles andere als eine Selbstverständlichkeit ist. Professionen sind ein Mechanismus der Überleitung von der ständischen Gesellschaft des alten Europa zur funktional differenzierten Gesellschaft der Moderne und vermutlich liegt gerade darin ihre gesellschaftsgeschichtliche Bedeutung2. Zwei Aufgaben wird sich der folgende Beitrag stellen: er wird zunächst diesen Überleitungscharakter der Professionen skizzieren und danach einige Gesichtspunkte herausarbeiten, die die Stabilität oder Instabilität der Form Profession in der modernen Gesellschaft betreffen.
