Zusammenfassung

Seit Dezember 2000 ist in der Europäischen Union (EU) eine neue „Richtlinie zur Schaffung eines Ordnungsrahmens für Maßnahmen der Gemeinschaft im Bereich der Wasserpolitik“ (2000/60/EG) in Kraft. Mit dieser Wasserrahmenrichtlinie (WRRL), wie sie kurz bezeichnet wird, wird der Versuch unternommen, eine einheitliche Politik zum integralen Schutz von Oberflächengewässern und Grundwasser in der EU zu schaffen und eine Vielzahl von Wasserrichtlinien durch ein modernes, kohärentes europäisches Wasserrecht zu ersetzen.
