Die Außenpolitik Kanadas

Zusammenfassung

Die Außenpolitik eines Staates wird in der Regel vom Zusammenspiel mehrerer Faktoren bestimmt. Zu diesen gehören insbesondere (a) die Lage des Staates im internationalen System, (b) die inneren Strukturen und Entscheidungsprozesse sowie (c) die Regierungspolitik. Dazu kommen außenpolitische Leitideen sowie die kaum berechenbare Abfolge der Ereignisse. Der folgende Beitrag konzentriert sich im wesentlichen auf die inneren Bestimmungsfaktoren im außenpolitischen Entscheidungsprozess Kanadas unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von Kanadas Selbstverständnis und Lage in Nordamerika sowie der Außenpolitik der Regierung Chrétien.2
