Zusammenfassung

Ende der 70er Jahre haben die Studien von Baerns (1985, 1979) zum Verhältnis von Journalismus und Public Relations im deutschen Sprachraum eine ausgedehnte wissenschaftliche Debatte um Einflussbeziehungen und Interdependenzen zwischen diesen beiden Kommunikatorgruppen angestoßen. Die anschließende wissenschaftliche Diskussion dieses Beziehungsgeflechts hat in Deutschland nicht nur zu einer stattlichen Zahl empirischer Studien zum Verhältnis von Journalismus und PR geführt, sondern auch auf der Ebene der theoretischen Modellierung eine beachtliche wissenschaftliche Entwicklung in Gang gesetzt. So ist nicht nur das Intereffikationsmodell zur Abbildung von Adaptions- und Induktionsprozessen zwischen Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Journalismus entstanden (vgl. Bentele/Liebert/Seeling 1997), sondern in Verbindung, respektive in Auseinandersetzung mit der funktional-strukturellen/autopoietischen Systemtheorie sind theoretische Modellierungen von PR und Journalismus als (funktionale) Teilsysteme unternommen und/oder kritisch diskutiert worden (vgl. zuletzt und ausführlich Hoffjann 2001). Der vorliegende Band kann als eine Art Spiegel der deutschsprachigen Forschung bezeichnet werden.
