Zusammenfassung

Das Interesse an der Erforschung des Verhältnisses zwischen Demokratie und Rechtsstaat hat in den letzten Jahren stark zugenommen. Insbesondere jene Wissenschaftler, die unter dem Begriff der demokratischen Konsolidierung die Persistenz und Qualität der jüngst entstandenen Demokratien untersuchen, entdecken die Bedeutung, welche das Prinzip der gleichen und fairen Anwendung bestehender Gesetze (O’Donnell 1998) für die Überlebensfähigkeit und Qualität von Demokratien hat. Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit einem spezifischen Verstoß gegen das Rechtsstaatsprinzip: der Korruption und seinen konsolidierungsrelevanten Implikationen.
