Zusammenfassung
„Organisationskommunikation“ steht für ein Forschungsfeld, welches sich aus der Verbindung von Organisationsforschung und Kommunikationswissenschaft entwickelt hat. Gegenstand des Interesses sind Kommunikationsprozesse, die wesentlich durch die Organisation als Einflussgröße geprägt sind, dergestalt, dass die Beteiligten primär organisationsbezogen handeln, sei es in ihrer Eigenschaft als Mitglied oder als Repräsentant einer Organisation. Diese weit gefasste Gegenstandsbeschreibung schränkt den Forschungsbereich nicht von vornherein auf interne Kommunikationsprozesse ein, obwohl der auf organisationsinterne Gegebenheiten gerichtete Blick die Orientierung des Forschungsfeldes nach wie vor stark prägt. Eine definitorische Einengung der Organisationskommunikation auf interne Phänomene scheint für die Zukunft aber nicht besonders vielversprechend zu sein, zumal sie auch in der Vergangenheit nicht zwingend angestrebt wurde. So plädieren beispielsweise Roberts u.a. (1977) für eine Multi-Ebenen-Definition der Organisationskommunikation, welche sowohl Prozesse auf der Mikro-, als auch auf der Meso- und der Makroebene berücksichtigen solle. Auf der Mikroebene steht die Kommunikation zwischen einzelnen Personen oder Abteilungen im Fokus der Betrachtung (z.B. vertikale und laterale Kommunikation), auf der Mesoebene wird die Kommunikation zwischen einzelnen Abteilungen oder verschiedenen Organisationen zum Thema.
