Atmosphärische Neutrinos [Vui86, Kos92, Obe92, Kim93, Kaj94, Rob94, Bar95, Fog95a, Gai95, Gel95, Ros95, Sar95, Sta96, Win96], die durch die Kosmische Strahlung (Kap. 7.5) in der Erdatmosphäre entstehen, haben in den letzten Jahren möglicherweise Hinweise auf Neutrino- Oszillationen (Kap. 6.3) geliefert. Wegen des großen Erddurchmessers (L ≈ 104 km) sind mit ihnen kleine Massenunterschiede von δm2 ≳ 10‒4 eV2 zugänglich (Tab. 6.4).
