Abstract
While the numerical techniques we have introduced so far enable us to solve one-dimensional quantum systems that are intractable analytically, in general most physical systems that we would like to solve are not one-dimensional, but instead two- or three-dimensional. Unfortunately, the shooting or matching method, which we have applied successfully to one-dimensional problems, cannot be generalised to higher dimensions.
