Abstract

Depressive disorders are the psychiatric diagnoses most commonly associated with chronic pain, and can complicate the treatment of pain. Fortunately, there are a number of psychotherapeutic approaches that have been proven to be effective for treating depression, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal therapy.
