Part of the book series: Palgrave Studies of Entrepreneurship in Africa ((PSEA))

Abstract

This chapter develops a theoretical framework that presents a holistic view of inter-organisational trust development. By examining the entrepreneur as trustor, the exchange partner as trustee, and the interactions in institutions and relationships, this chapter marries the different theoreticalĀ approaches to the study of trust in inter-organisational relationships. It contributes to the literature by presenting a holistic framework and highlighting the debates and gaps in inter-organisational trust research in relation to entrepreneurship and small business management.
