Abstract

Individuals are born to commonsense . As they try and err in the commonsensical world, they see the need to learn factual knowledge and command practical skills about living and survival. Individuals are reared in religion . As they fear and pray in the religious realm, they understand the necessity to gather doing-related information and master deed-accomplishing techniques toward redemption and salvation. In the past, people look up to parents, consult clergies, observe peers, take an apprenticeship with masters, and reflect upon experiences when they develop talents, grow aptitudes, and expand capabilities. Now socialization becomes a systematic process with education taking dominance as the unavoidable road and science figuring in salience as the indispensable content. This chapter describes and explains individuals and individual life with respect to science , specifically acquisition and application of scientific knowledge and technological skills. For instance, “scripts” are comprehensive in science as a system of knowledge, from printed volumes to electronic archives, from staged curriculums to organized instructions, and from standard props to standardized textbooks.
