Abstract

Porphyria refers to a class of diseases related to dysfunctional heme biosynthesis. Porphyrias can be sub-divided based on clinical presentation (cutaneous versus extra-cutaneous manifestations), enzymes affected (erythropoietic or hematopoietic) or time course (acute versus chronic).
