Abstract
Cultural critique constitutes a significant part of the internet comedy produced by the new comedians, and while this is largely conceived of as an autonomous, creative space, the encroachment of corporations into this space has led to broader debates on freedom of expression and the functions of comedy in a democracy. This final chapter rounds up these discussion points and looks to potential research directions to take the new comedian and comedy forward.
