Abstract
It is important for safe clinical practice that all dental practitioners able to take and interpret a comprehensive medical history from all patients. Such a history is fundamental to tailoring the treatment to the individual patient and institute if necessary, often with liaison with relevant clinicians. This chapter covers the main aspects that are fundamental to this process.
