Abstract
The microscopic findings associated with retroplacental haematoma/haemorrhage include blood cells and acute inflammation in the basal decidua and the changes of infarction in the overlying placenta. Abnormalities in spiral arteries are described. Histologic changes can estimate the duration of the retroplacental haemorrhage from occurrence to delivery of the placenta.
