  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Art Therapy and Emotion Regulation Problems

Abstract

This chapter recounts the results of an extensive literature study of the effects of art therapy on personality disorders. This evidence-based chapter contains recommendations and practical instructions to support daily practice based on the results of scientific research (literature) and subsequent opinion formation (experience/opinions of experts and clients) aimed at specifying what constitutes good professional conduct. The evidentiary value is classified by different levels of evidence from level D, expert opinions, to level A, randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews. This lead to conclusions, explanations and recommendations for diagnostics and treatment in art therapy for people diagnosed with personality disorders.
