Abstract

What is the relationship between changing perspectives and social transformation? Is adult education still a democratizing force in our societies, and if so how? In this part of our pilgrimage we meet the idea of popular education and dialogue with some significant thinkers. It has represented a form of intentional and collective as well as non-violent action , historically aimed at bringing about major changes in social and political contexts, beyond single lives. The religious roots of certain perspectives on social change are manifest in the work of Freire, Gelpi, Tawney and others. There is a scream from Laura because women have too often been absent from conversations about social transformation. Feminist perspectives thus enter into our journey.
