Abstract

Unknown to many, Hanna-Barbera established a large animation studio in Sydney, Australia, which operated from 1972 to 1988. This chapter describes the formation and rise of this studio, featuring a number of intriguing anecdotes gleaned from interviews with former animators and directors of the studio. It proves to be a colourful and scholarly account of a previously unpublished segment of both Australian animation history, and of the history of the Hanna-Barbera studios.
