Abstract
Paul Rogers was born in wartime London in 1945, worked initially in the biological sciences, then in East Arica on crop research followed by a period lecturing in environmental sciences before spending most of his career in the Peace Studies centre at Bradford University in the UK, including more than 25 years as Professor of Peace Studies. He has published widely in international security with a recent emphasis on the links between marginalisation and radical social movements and the need for very different approaches to traditional security thinking. He has long sought to encourage greater public engagement with the issues, is a frequent broadcaster and writes widely for web outlets. He and his wife, Claire, have lived in a village in Yorkshire for fifty years where they have a smallholding and grow much of their own food. They have four sons.
