Segmentation and Stillness Make Human Checks Secure

Abstract

The best condition for human to check is that everything is staying at its normal position designated beforehand. Under such circumstance, the checker does not feel time pressure, since nothing is in motion. In addition, the check itself becomes easy; the checker is only required to compare actual positions of things with their regular positions. Although the merit of checking under stillness is a matter of course, we find many bad practices of check under motion in real workplaces today. To realize the best condition, collect segmentation of workflow is required, and it may not be so trivial. This article discusses reason of the merits, design method of workflow segmentation, and actual successful examples.
