The Use of Task-Flow Observation to Map Users’ Experience and Interaction Touchpoints

As oppose to usability metrics, which tends to focus on specific tasks on specific digital apparatuses, the pervasive experience permeates different digital devices to build a journey with many interaction touchpoints and blended spaces. Sometimes the interactive experience occurs without any digital device at all, as a planned physical environment may fulfill the whole experience. This paper shows the use of Task-flow Observation in its full preparation and execution, while comparing three different approaches – all previously conducted in previous research projects – as a method to map users’ behavior and their experience journey.
