Regenerative Strategies for Maxillary and Mandibular Reconstruction

Abstract

Since it was first described in 2013, the Fibula Jaw in a Day procedure has become more and more common in microvascular units across the country. This is an invaluable technique that has revolutionized the way we think about maxillofacial reconstruction. It allows for mandibular or maxillary reconstruction in post-ablative defects with immediate dental rehabilitation, a process that traditionally takes 12 months to complete. The aim of this chapter is to provide a review of published reports at the time of this writing and to provide the reader with clinical pearls and a step-by-step approach to the Fibula Jaw in a Day procedure.
