Abstract

Tumor lesions of the second cervical vertebra represent one of the most challenging diagnoses in spine surgery. Total spondylectomy of C2 in selected cases improved long-term patient outcome. Three main issues should be addressed before treatment of this high-risk pathology: indication, approach, and reconstruction technique.
