Abstract
Over the past two decades, many soldiers have claimed their right to choose not to fight in specific conflicts based upon the fact that they disagree with their morality. This chapter addresses this right for selective conscientious objection and works to explain how it can be a logical implication of soldiers’ professional duties. It also defends the idea that it is the professional obligation of senior commanding officers to prevent their subordinates from participating in illegal wars.
