Abstract
Many refugee and asylum-related organizations in Europe were active long before the ‘refugee crisis of 2015’. This chapter presents an analysis of the role of asylum and refugee-related organizations and their cooperation networks for the reception, protection, and integration of asylum refugees. It is shown that organizations related to refugee protection in Spain, Italy, and Greece cooperate in highly differentiated networks that mainly consist of rather informal relations. These networks might not be visible in the everyday life or in the public discourse immediately, but they connect organizations active at different spatial levels that are of different type and driving norms.
