Problem Setup: Minsky’s Frame Theory
In Part I, we investigated the exceptionality of human consciousness in terms of how humans frame their intersection with the ongoing world in the unit of the episode. As shown in Fig. 9.1, it is a combustible intersection, causing memory time-traveling backward to a remembered past and forward to a predicted future. This release from time and space is the basis of our exceptionality as a species. However, there is a problem with this exceptional framing ability which is the investigation we undertake here in Part II.
