Framing: The Mimetic-to-Mythic Transition
We have so far talked about the first evolutionary layer of human consciousness, the contact layer with the world in the unit of the episode of experience; and the second layer, where the individual mimics or reexperiences the episode by time-traveling back to the stored representation of the memory in episodic memory. The linking seed is the evolving intention of our prehistoric ancestors, which we hypothesize as being due to the explosive intersection of these ancestors with the world. We have question marks attached to our representation of our intersection experience, which causes us to seek understanding of the world around us and our place in it through a constant time-traveling back to mimic or reexperience the experience via our representation of it in episodic memory.
