Conclusion to Book: The Search for Meaning and the Open-Ended Question
We end the book where we began in Fig. 17.1, a human figure framing his experience of the world by entering a cave. What drove our cognitively modern human ancestors into caves, to crawl through the tiny passages they found there into hidden galleries, then to draw elaborate episodes from their experience on the walls and ceilings?
They had different intentions, or rather the intentions evolved, allowing our prehistoric ancestors to recognize and bring in new information from the outside world.
