Abstract

This chapter recapitulates the coagulation process and describes common agents that exert an effect on coagulation while discussing routine anticoagulation post-CPB surgery. This includes a discussion of the causes and treatment of bleeding and hypercoagulability. The most common coagulation problems associated with postoperative pediatric heart surgery are concisely outlined.
