Diagnosis and Surgical Management of Renal Tumors

Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) comprises a group of tumors that represent the most common malignant renal neoplasms. Several distinct subtypes of RCC exist, each characterized by unique morphologic, cytogenetic, molecular, and clinical characteristics. Aside from RCC, there are also several benign tumors that occur in the kidney, representing up to 20% of all renal cortical neoplasms. In this chapter we review the pathology of renal tumors.
