A Cheerful Journey or a Depressive Process? A Study of the Integrated Cultural and Creative Design Curriculum

The study explores the learning effectiveness of collaborative teaching in a university design course, which uses case planning and service design to present a service design planning model of teaching and industry-university cooperation. The course works with the companies of the incubation centers, forming groups to carry out course experiments on industry-university cooperation. The research methodology includes participant observation, data analysis, and in-depth interviews. Analysis of the results indicate that the students gave positive feedback regarding the level of happiness of the experience. This shows that an integrated teaching plan can trigger motivation to learn and enhance learning effectiveness. The learning effectiveness of depression learning showed negative feedback regarding the learning process. The study found that the benefits and attitudes of collaborative teaching are very much recognized in the curriculum teaching process. Building a new model for industry-university cooperation to be integrated into cultural innovation design course is an advantage in developing a new experiential model for industry-university cooperation and learning in design courses, increasing the learning motivation of the students and enhancing their developmental potential. Whether student learning is a positive or negative process, the study has achieved the goal of resolving the issue of practical learning effectiveness, and, with the emphasis on cooperation between the fields of “research, education, and service,” is able to serve as a reference for cultural creative design education and industry-university cooperation.
