Abstract
The interphalangeal joints (IP joints) represent a physiological enlargement of the toes. When the toes are pressed against each other, the adjacent toe can exert pressure on the joint and vice versa. Hyperkeratosis and ulcers may affect the joint by exerting pressure on itself or the adjacent toe. If both are affected the term ‘kissing ulcers’ may be used.
