Abstract
Liver cysts are common findings typically identified incidentally on imaging and are almost universally benign in nature. However, in addition to those due to an infectious etiology, premalignant cysts can arise that require prompt evaluation and treatment. These include mucinous cystic neoplasms, intraductal papillary neoplasms of the bile duct, tubulopapillary neoplasms, choledochal cysts, and ciliated hepatic foregut cysts. The risk of cancer progression in these lesions can be varied. This chapter will describe the etiology, diagnosis, and management of these cysts with an emphasis on indications for resection.
