Abstract
The conclusion underscores that while making this distinction between modern American and Palestinian literary experiences of expatriation and exile, this book does not endeavour to say that the experiences of exile and expatriation do not co-exist. This book studied the distinction between these two experiences of displacement as represented in particular historical moments, yet the terms exile and expatriation have been transformed across time and carried multiple political, social, economic and cultural implications. However, while there is certainly further work to be done in deconstructing the relationship between exile and expatriation, it remains important within the present context to first establish the distinctions between these often-blurred concepts, given that there has not been much prior work exploring this question.
