Best Practices of Corporate Governance in a Network of Tourism Firms in Brazil

Abstract

This article presents the results of a study held in a network of firms from the Tourism industry in the cities of Quatro Barras, and Campina Grande do Sul, located in State of Paraná, Brazil. The purpose of the research to identify the best practices of corporate governance that are emergent in this network. The method of investigation was participant observation and document analysis from secondary sources. The analysis technique was the content analysis of field notes from the participant observations and from the collected documents. The level of analysis was sectoral, and the unities of analysis were the managers from the tourism firms. The data analysis provided evidence for the identification of the basic principles of governance applied by the network according to the concepts of disclosure, fairness, accountability, and compliance. It was also noticed that the best practices of corporate governance might be applied to the model of network governance.
