Abstract

Interventional radiology plays a large role in the management of patients with liver disease, particularly in those patients with liver cancer and in the setting of trauma. The treatment options and strategies for the management of hepatocellular carcinoma are complex and require a multidisciplinary approach. This chapter focuses on providing an overview of the imaging diagnosis and classification of hepatocellular carcinoma and examining the various treatment options that can be provided by minimally invasive techniques performed by interventional radiology. In addition, the interventional radiologists’ role in the management of patients with traumatic liver injury is discussed.
