Abstract

Robotically assisted operations are now commonplace at many hospitals. Recent development of new instrumentation for robotic surgery and increasing expertise at many centers now allow the most intricate of operations to be accomplished by robotically assisted techniques. Esophagectomies, low anterior resections, hepatectomies, pancreaticoduodenectomies, and pneumonectomies are just some of the major operations routinely performed at specialty centers by robotically assisted techniques [1].
