Abstract
The menopause transition, particularly if it occurs as a result of cancer treatment earlier than expected, can be distressing and have long term negative consequences for one’s quality of life. Several important symptoms such as hot flashes, osteroporosis and vulvovaginal symptoms are discussed in terms of physiology and evidence based treatments. Appropriate assessment and management can add positively to women’s quality of survivorship. More research is needed to identify efficient treatment algorithms for symptoms related to estrogen deprivation.
