Abstract

Over the last two decades, the search for and study of exoplanets, planets outside the Solar System, has been one of the most dynamic research fields of modern astronomy. This is not only because of the potential that living things may exist on them, but also to further our understanding of the origin of planetary systems. As of February 2018, more than 3,600 planets have been confirmed from ground-based and space-based observation, including some super-Earth planets, planets with masses between 1 and 10 \(M_{\oplus }\), which have potential to support life.
