Abstract
This chapter summarizes the findings of the study and discusses the social factors that facilitate the maintenance of Greek. These factors are related to speakers’ identities and domains of use, such as generation, marital status (endogamy), family, friendship, employment, education and religion. The chapter also discusses the role of language attitudes and the media in the maintenance of Greek. Limitations of the current study and directions for future research are addressed in the final section.
