Abstract
Our conference calls attention to and acknowledges the remarkable discoveries about how the human brain works and their potential for improving social harmony in our troubled world. Of course, the process of education is a prominent theme throughout our sessions, and mine in particular. When we think about the role of brain processes in education and even more ambitiously, in social harmony, we are acknowledging that we are thinking about the process of thinking and learning-which take place within each of us individually, as well as how this learning affects our social behavior that comprises societal norms. It is in this sense that I refer to “meta-discipline” in my title.
