Perioperative and Postoperative Guidance of the Bariatric Patient

  • Chapter
  • First Online:

Abstract

Bariatric perioperative cares are a key and delicate issue nowadays, with many items that are intertwined: diet and supplementation, physical exercise, sociopsychological welfare and quality of life. Post-operative guidance starts already preoperatively, during the early stage, when a patient is being prepared for surgery, and then continues for life. Depending on each operation, follow-up plays out differently, but should be ensured by a dedicated team, and include the necessary means to avoid weight regain, and deficiencies in the same time.
