Abstract
To achieve the goal of safe and convenient driving, in this book, we dig into the problem of explore smartphone-based approaches and systems for sensing vehicle conditions and further detect driving behaviors. Specifically, in Chap. 2, we address the problem of enhancing off-the-shelf smartphone for sensing vehicle dynamics to support vehicular applications. Two smartphone sensors, i.e., accelerometer and gyroscope, are exploited to sensing five different types of vehicle dynamics, i.e., the moving and stopping, driving on uneven road, turning, changing lanes and the instance speed of vehicles when driving.
