Abstract
In this chapter, the authors reflect on their contributions to a translocal approach to childhood studies. Moreover, this chapter creates light for future research. Children are simultaneously grounded and mobile; they can insist on more local lives only in one place as well as taking pride in the translocal richness of their experiences. Furthermore, child participants imagine lives that stretch beyond the Nordic and North European space. The authors invite other researchers to unravel the complexities of doing family from the child’s point of view. By demonstrating the strength of the translocal approach the authors hope to encourage other researchers to discover the meanings of places, people and childhood in the different geographical and social contexts around the globe where children live their lives.
