Abstract
Acanthosis nigricans (AN) is a velvety hyperpigmentation of the axilla, groin, intertriginous areas and nape of the neck. It is most commonly seen in insulin resistance diabetes and obesity. The skin is thick with pronounced ridging and papillomatosis, which gives the skin a velvety appearance.
