Abstract
This chapter goes into some of the theories behind the analysis and discussion in the book. Transport infrastructure as systems with an outreach over time, scope and scale is sketched. Furthermore the research process leading to this book is presented, and some of the methodological aspects of the research project. Some different perspectives on transport infrastructure systems are added; functional and temporal and spatial and how these affect the systems. One of the effects being that inconsistencies in the government’s role is frequent when owning transport infrastructure.
